William Roach, of near Waverly, died Saturday morning, Oct. 24, at 9:15 at Passavant hospital, Jacksonville, where he had been a patient for a week.

Deceased was born in Rutledge, Tenn., August 18, 1876, the son of Alex and Caroline Fralix Roach. He was married in 1899 to Maybelle Brogdon, who died in 1920. They were the parents of eight children, six of whom survive, namely, Mrs. Essie Cooper, of Lynnville; Troy, Alben, Mrs. Mattie English and Howard Roach of Galesburg, and Mrs. Beulah Barbera of Chicago. One son, Marshall died in 1945, and an infant daughter also preceded him in death.

In 1928 he was married to Mrs. Golda Chambers, who survives. Five children were born to this union, Edgar in the Air Force, in Texas, Carl and Clay, at home. Two daughters died in infancy.

One brother, Clyde Roach, of Tennessee, survives, also 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Roach was a farmer by occupation, and had resided in Illinois about fifty years. He was a member of the Baptist church in Tennessee.

Funeral services were held at the Gillham Funeral home in Jacksonville Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Wm. J. Boston officiating.
