Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Roach Parks died at St. John's hospital, Springfield, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock of pneumonia, after an illness of a week.

The death is peculiarly sad in that her husband passed away of the same disease just six days ago. It is thought that Mrs. Parks contracted the disease while nursing him. Six weeks ago, a sister of Mrs. Parks, Mrs. Newton Servance, passed away.

Deceased was the daughter of John Alexander and Eveline Roach and was born in Grange county, Tenn., Nov. 26, 1878. She grew to womanhood in that state, coming to Illinois about 13 years ago. She was for a number of years a resident of the Pisgah neighborhood and was a devoted member of Union Baptist church. She was a woman who had many friends who will learn with regret of her unexpected death.

She was united in marriage to William Parks September 4, 1909. She is survived by one daughter, Anna May Parks, aged six years. She also leaves two sisters and three brothers as follows: William Roach of Naples, Mrs. Fred Gottschall of near Franklin, Mrs. Allen Spaenhower of Pisgah, Clyde Roach of Alton and Clay Roach of near Franklin.

Funeral services will be held from Union Baptist church at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in charge of the Rev. F. M. Crabtree. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
