Helen L. Hayes, 82, of Pisgah, died Sunday morning, Aug. 18, 1996, at Passavant Area Hospital.

She was born March 29, 1914, in Pisgah, the daughter of Fred and Mary Beekman Ausmus. She married Raymond Hayes May 22, 1933, in Hannibal, Mo. He survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Gary (wife, Louise) Hayes and Steve (wife, Sandy) Hayes, both of Jacksonville; two daughters, Mrs. James (Patricia) Whalen of Waverly and Mrs. Terry (Mary Beth) Airsman of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Pisgah Potluck Group, Republican Women, and the Brooklyn United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pisgah. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where family will meet friends 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the cemetery.
