Samuel H. Davenport

Samuel H. Davenport, well known resident of the Pisgah community, died at his home Monday morning about 6 o'clock. He was the son of Merle and Elizabeth Davenport, and was born in Casey county, Kentucky, September 12, 1862, being 78 years of age.

In 1882 he was married to Catherine Thompson, who preceded him in death in 1910. The following children survive: Mrs. Hattie Osterloh of the Heartland community, Harrison Davenport at home, and Alfred T. Davenport of Peoria. There are also four grandchildren and one great grandchild, and the following brothers and sisters: Clay Davenport of Waverly, K. W. Davenport of Indiana, Mrs. Kate Stultz and Mrs. Pearl Standefer of Carlinville.

Mr. Davenport was a member of Union Baptist church, Pisgah where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Henry Spencer, of Murrayville, officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery.
