Davenport

J. F. Davenport, a well known resident of Franklin, died at his home there Sunday. For seven years he has been an invalid as a result of paralysis, and had borne his sufferings with remarkable fortitude. He was born at Mintonville, Ky., March 7, 1830, and was the son of Ephraim and Sallie Davenport. August 13, 1855, he was married to Luisa Sweeney, and his wife with five children survive him. They are Mrs. Mary Kennedy, who has been at the family home; William and Benjamin, residing near Alexander, and Mrs. Millie Spaenhower and Jesse Davenport, of near Waverly. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Sciota Jasper of Claremont Springs, Okla., and one brother, M. C. Davenport, of Palmyra.

For fifty years Mr. Davenport was a member of the Christian church, and he was a man whose life was above reproach. He was always active in the work of the church and his influence was for good in the community.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock at the Christian church at Franklin, Rev. Mr. Spayd officiating. Interment was made in the Union cemetery.
