ADKINS, JAMES A.

James A. Adkins, 57, R.R.2, Franklin, was killed instantly Monday afternoon, July 20, in a tractor accident, about three miles west of Franklin.

He was born June 27, 1930, in Jacksonville, son of Armou and Gladys James Adkins. His mother survives in Ashland.

He married Billy Jean Witham Oct. 31, 1948, in Mississippi. She survives with a son, William "Butch" Adkins of Pawnee; two grandsons, Josh and John Adkins; and a brother, Dick Adkins of Ashland.

Mr. Adkins was a self-employed farmer, past president of the Franklin Lions Club and member of the Franklin Christian Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Union Cemetery at Pisgah. Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly Rescue Squad.
