JACKSONVILLE
Margaret Josephine "Jo" Davis, 83, of Jacksonville, died Sunday evening, July 7, 2002, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

She was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Jacksonville, the daughter of John and Mary Ann McBride Johnson. She married Charles E. Davis Sept. 15, 1945, in Jacksonville, and he survives.

She is also survived by three daughters, Nancy Jo (husband, Bob) Thornley of Longmont, Colo., Carol Ann (husband, C.O.) Smith of Jacksonville and Donna Kay "Dee Dee" (husband, Jack) Lynn of Springfield; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Helen Bixby of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by one sister, Aggie Ingram; and one brother, John Paul "Bud" Johnson.

Mrs. Davis graduated from Routt High School in 1936 and attended McMurray College. She taught at Sulphur Springs School near Pisgah.

Private services will be held with burial at Sulphur Springs Cemetery near Pisgah. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Cody & Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
