Edward P. "Pat" Cody, of Jacksonville, former resident of Waverly, died Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's hospital in Jacksonville, having sustained a stroke at his residence, 223 East College Ave., about 10:30 Saturday morning. He was born in Decatur, September 17, 1872, a son of James and Isabel Rogers Cody.

For a number of years Mr. Cody was a brakeman on the Alton railroad. Later he operated meat markets in Waverly and Virginia. Most of his life, until moving to Jacksonville a number of years ago, was spent in this city.

Surviving are his wife, Edith M. Cody; four stepsons, Ralph Peters, of Waverly, Lee, Joseph and Charles Peters, all of Jacksonville; five step-daughters, Mrs. Raymond King, of New Berlin, Mrs. Glenn Crum, of Modesto, Mrs. Catherine Kelly, of Jacksonville, Mrs. Walter Timmons, of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Leroy Sellers, of Wilmington; and three brothers, Joseph Jesse and Nicholas, of Waverly, and Fred, of Kankakee. One brother, James, and a half sister, Amanda Milton, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Sebastian's church in this city tuesday morning at 9:00 o'clock, Rev. Michael Kearns, the pastor, officiating.

the pall bearers were Raymond and Harold King, glenn and Wayne Crum, and Joseph and Lee Peters.

The flowers were cared for by Misses Geraldine Crum, Helen Peters and Doris and Mary Alice King.

Burial was in Catholic cemetery.
