Mr. Corridon Cox, an old citizen of Morgan county, died at his home on Hardin avenue 15 minutes before 11 last night (May 13, 1885).

Mr. Cox was born in Chesterfield county, Virginia, on Sept. 30th, 1811. He removed to this county in 1830. In 1832 he was married to Miss Mary Magill, who survives him. Immediately after their marriage they settled upon section 4, township 14, range 9, where they lived until May 9th, 1880, when their home with all its surroundings was swept away by a cyclone, which will long be remembered by the residents of that neighborhood. In the following year they moved to Jacksonville, where they have since resided. They had a family of nine children, six of whom are living. Two of these, W. H. Cox, of Waverly, and Jeremiah Cox, of Jacksonville, are well known citizens.

For some time Mr. Cox has been ailing with heart trouble, but his death was not expected. He had been in bed for several weeks and was apparently no worse than usual yesterday, and died very suddenly. Mr. Cox has been for many years one of the foremost citizens in the county, and his reputation for integrity, industry and hospitality has been second to none. He was in every sense of the word a good citizen.

The funeral services will take place at the Christian church on Friday afternoon, at one o'clock, and will be conducted by Elder Rice, assisted by Rev. Mr. Gilbert. The remains will be interred at Scott's burying ground, southeast of the city.
