Spires
BETTY JUNE SPIRES

Little Betty June Spires, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spires, was found dead in her crib Friday morning, January 7, at the family home in Jacksonville. She was born July 3, 1943, south of Prentice, and was 6 months and 3 days old.

Mr. and Mrs. Spires were awake at 1:00 a.m., when the baby appeared to be in usual health, except for a slight cold. A nursing bottle was placed in the crib, after which the parents retired. At 5 o'clock the mother went to the crib in the same room and found that the babe was dead.

The infant is survived by her parents, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Reed of Waverly, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Spires of Franklin.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 1:30, at Providence church, Rev. Williams, pastor of the church officiating.

Mrs. Vella Rees sang �Precious Jewels�, �In the Garden� and �Face to Face�. The pall bearers were nephews of the deceased, namely, Jack Reed, Joe, Bill, and Robert Spires.

The flowers were cared for by Miss Evelyn Reed, Mrs. Albert Miner, Mrs. Leonard Reed and Mrs. Raymond Spires, aunts of the deceased.

Burial was in Providence cemetery.
