Funeral Services Will Be Sunday

Prominent Bluffs Man Dies In Hospital Here; Was 76 Year of Age

Bluffs, Jan. 15-Funeral services for P. C. Burrus will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the old M. E. church, with the Rev. S. W. Jensen and the Rev. Orval Baer officiating. Burial will be in the Meredosia cemetery.

Mr. Burrus, who was born and reared in this community, was almost 77 years old. He died in a Jacksonville hospital where he underwent an emergency operation less than five days before.

At the time of his death he was assistant postmaster, a member of the Bluffs Civic club, member of the Masonic Order, and the First Methodist church.

In former years he had been a farmer, later engaging in the mercantile business here. He had served as a member of the school board and on the city council. He and Mrs. Burrus, who was Effie Merris before her marriage, had celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary.

Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Earl Burrus now of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, George Burrus and Mrs. Ella McCaleb of Bluffs, Charles Burrus of Oran, Missouri, and Mrs. Ida Howard of Melvane, Kansas.
