Illinois Courier July 1, 1885

Died-After an illness of a few days, on Wednesday at 10 p.m., Jacob Long. Uncle Jake was well known in this part of Morgan county. He was nearly 70 years of age and has for many years been a member of the Predestinarian Baptist church. He will be greatly missed by the people of his own vicinity, where for about twenty years he has resided. The aged wife and children have the heartfelt sympathies of their many friends in this sad bereavement. The funeral services were held at the Indian Creek Baptist church and conducted by Rev. Wm. Dyer. The body was then taken to Morris Chapel cemetery, where it was quietly laid away.
