LAWSON, JAMES C.

James C. Lawson, 88, a resident of the Jacksonville Convalescent Center, died at 10:20 pm Friday, Sept 8, 1989, at the center.

Born in Scott County Sept. 18, 1900, son of Harry & Alice Jeanette (Suter) Lawson, he married Mary Bigby on Dec. 23, 1919, and she died Sept. 18, 1969. He later married Adeline P. Warmoth on July 18, 1972,and she died Feb. 27, 1983.

Surviving are a step daughter, Mrs. John A. (Louise) Kelly of Jacksonville; two step granddaughters, Mrs. James (Patty) Currence of Wichita Falls, TX., and Mrs. Reginald (Tammy) Allan of Normal; one stepgreat-granddaughter; three sisters, Mary Preston of Jacksonville, Stella Daniels of White Hall, and Mrs. Claude (Sadie) Evans of Bethalto; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Lawson retired from the Jacksonville Developmental Center after 20 years of employment. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist church.

Visitation was Sunday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home in Jacksonville, where services were held at 2 pm Monday. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Jacksonville.
