Leona Crosby, 68, dies early Thursday; set funeral Sunday
Mrs. Leona M. Crosby, 1135 South Diamond, died 4:10 a.m. Thursday at Passavant Hospital where she had been a patient one day. She was 68 years of age.
She was born December 2, 1911, in McCool, Mississippi, daughter of James M. and Mary O. Barrett Watkins. She married Frank J. Black and he preceded her in death. She later married Frank Brown and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Frank (Jim) Black of Jacksonville and Ralph H. Black of Springfield. There are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother, Claude Watkins of McCool, Mississippi, survives.
She was preceded in death by a son, William B., and two brothers.
Mrs. Crosby was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and a resident here for one year.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cody and Son Memorial Home with Rev. Howard Duer officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
