OBITUARY - REID

Mrs. ANN M. REID, died at the family homestead, three miles north of the city, on March 4, after a lingering illness of several weeks. She was born March 24th, 1828, in Erie, Pa., being the fourth child in a family of eight children, five sons and three daughters. On the 8th day of Jan. 1846, she was united in marriage to Mr. Abraham Reid. She was the mother of eight children, three sons and five daughters. There are now living, Wm. F., Marilla S., Francis Isabella, Abram C., Minnie S. and Annie L. She has been a member of Ebenezer church for many years, and on Tuesday before her death on Friday, she called all her loved ones to her bedside and bade them an affectionate farewell, saying she was ready to go, and departed with blessed hope of meeting her already deceased children and loved friends in heaven. A large company of relatives and friends gathered at the homestead Sunday morning and after a brief service of prayer, proceeded to Ebenezer church, where a full congregation was assembled to bear the funeral discourse by the pastor, Rev. A. M. Danely. Rev. V. Breckon closed the service with appropriate personal remarks concerning his visit to the deceased on Sunday before her death. The pall bearers were long time friends and neighbors of the deceased. She was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery, her grave being very elaborately and beautiflly decorated with rare cut flowers in various designs. Her aged husband and two single daughters will still remain at the homestead, missing indeed the light of the household, but hoping to join her in the mansions above when life's journey is over.
