DEATH RECORD

REID

ABRAHAM REID, one of the oldest and most widely known residents of Morgan county, died at his home northwest of this city, Friday morning, Dec. 16, 1904, at 11 o'clock.

Mr. Reid was born Jan. 6, 1820 , in Lexington, Ky. When a child he removed with his parents to Jacksonville, Ill. where for many years the family lived in the old Reid homestead on North Church street, the site more recently occupied by the home of the Rev. Robert Lenington.

He was married Jan. 8, 1846, to Ann Marie Hamilton, sister of William Hamilton, of Jacksonville, lately deceased. To this union were born ten children of whom the following survive: Mrs. Marilla Mapes, Mrs. Belle McDonald, A. C. Reid, Jr. all of Morgan county, and Mrs. Minnie Metcalf and Mrs. Annie Converse, of Macoupin county. There are, besides, twenty-eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Reid preceded her husband in death on March 4, 1892.

The death of Abraham Reid removed from earth the last of the children of Stephen H. and Mary Reid, who were among the first settlers of Jacksonville.

Funeral services will be conducted from Ebenezer church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, in charge of Rev. C. F. Baker.
