Mrs. Lena Goveia, former resident, dies Sunday.

Mrs. Lena Baptist Goveia, a former resident of Jacksonville, more recently of DeKalb, died at Springfield Memorial Hospital at 11:14 A.M. Sunday after an illness of the past several months.

Mrs. Goveia was the widow of George M. Goveia, a Morgan County farmer and stock breeder who resided in the Arcadia neighborhood, who preceded her in death in 1946. The family left this community for Downers Grove in 1934. Mrs. Goveia's parents were Antonio and Marquerite Lash Baptist.

Surviving are three sons, Lennard M., of DeKalb, Elmer of St. Louis, C.J. DeGoveia of Springfield. One brother, John Baptist, of Jacksonville and several nephews and nieces in this vicinity also survive. The deceased was a member of the Shiloh Methodist church, northeast of the city.

The remains were brought to the Cody and son Memorial Home where funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday with burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday.
