Zeddie T. Bell, 71, dies here Sunday

Zeddie T. Bell, 71, of rural route Jacksonville and a bailiff at the Morgan County Courthouse, died Sunday evening, Sept. 2, at Passavant Hospital.

He was born near Jacksonville Jan. 7, 1913, the son of Zed and Sarah Ann Oxley Bell. He was married to Verla Annette Gaffney Oct. 15, 1949 at Mt. Vernon. She survives, along with a son, Zeddie T. Bell of Jacksonville; one grandson, Nathan Andrew Bell; two brothers, Edgar M. of Murrayville and James R. of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 3 AF&AM, was a United States Army veteran of WWII, a long time employee of Mobil Chemical Company and for the last several years a bailiff in Morgan County.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cody and Son Memorial Home, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will meet friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call after noon Tuesday. The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Society.
