Death Comes to Mrs. Christena Strawn Wednesday Morning
Well Known Member Of An Old Pioneer Family Dies At Daughter's Home
Mrs. Christena Robinson Strawn of 600 South Main street passed away Wednesday morning at 7:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Foster, north of Alexander, following a year's illness.
She was the widow of Charles E. Strawn, prominent farmer of the Strawn's Crossing community. He passed away in 1901. Mrs. Strawn was the daughter of Harrison and Elizabeth Thompson Robinson and was born south of Prentice Dec. 18, 1865. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Strawn was soleminized Nov. 17, 1891.
They were parents of two children who survive, Mrs. Frank Foster of Alexander and Robinson Strawn of Strawn's Crossing community. There are five grandchildren, Mrs. Lee Frank, New Berlin, Robert Foster and Marguerite Foster, north of Alexander, Samuel and Marcus Strawn, Strawn's Corssing, and one great-granddaughter, Marguerite Ellen Frank.
One brother and one sister also survive, Harrison Robinson and Mrs. Walter Robertson of the Berea community. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death, Letitia Salyers, Elizabeth Martin, George and Martin Robinson. There are a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Strawn was a faithful member of the Berea Christine church and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. She was a member of Wilber chapter, Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Rebekah Lodge No. 13, and the Service Star Legion. For many years since its inception she was a member of the Strawn's Crossing Woman's Club and most active in the organization.
Mrs. Strawn was a kind and faithful mother and one who was faithful toher home and her organizations and will be missed by a laarge circle of relatives and friends.
Funeral services in her memory will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Berea Christian church in charge of Rev. D. C. Byus and Rev. Charles Howard, with interment in Diamond Grove cemetery.
The remains are at the Williamson funeral home and will be taken to the Frank Foster home at 10 o'clock on Thursday morning.

Joel G. Strawn, well known farmer of the Alexander community, died at his home there at 5 o'clock this morning. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Strawn, and was born on the Strawn homestead west of Alexander, Aug. 26, 1862.
Decedent was married to Kate Anna Covington, who preceded him in death Oct. 16, 1921. He is survived by the following children: Earnest, Harold and Howard Strawn, all of this city; Mrs. Mabel Sinclair of Virginia, Isaiah Strawn of Joliet and Elmer Strawn of Alexander.
Mr. Strawn followed the occupation of farming and was very successful. He retired from active farming five years ago. He was a member of Urania Lodge No. 243, I.O.O.F., in this city.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Williamson funeral home with interment in Diamond Grove cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Andrews. The remains may be viewed by friends at the funeral home.
