JAMES V. CONNOLLY EXPIRES AT HOME NEAR MURRAYVILLE

The death of James V. Connolly occurred Sunday morning at 6:30 o'clock at his home two and one-half miles northwest of Murrayville, after a short illness. Mr. Connolly was a lifetime resident of Morgan county, having been actively engaged in farming for many years.

He was born Feb. 5, 1878 in this county, the son of Martin and Mary English Connolly, natives of Ireland. They were parents of 13 children, of whom but one is now living.

Mr. Connolly's wife, Elizabeth, preceded him in death in 1931. He is survived by five children, Rev. Father Thomas Connolly, Taylorville; Mrs. Thomas Crabtree, Jacksonville; Mrs. Lloyd Ruyle, Wood River; Mrs. James Casey and Martin Connolly, both of Murrayville.

A brother, Peter Connolly of Jerseyville, is the sole survivor of a 13 brothers and sisters.

The remains were prepared for burial at the Thompson Funeral Home in Murrayville, and were returned to the residence Monday morning.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock (Standard Time) at St. Bartholomew's Catholic church in Murrayville, Rev. D. F. Lydon officiating. Burial will be made in St. Bartholomew cemetery.

CONNELLY RITES HELD TODAY AT WAVERLY CHURCH

Frank W. Connelly was born November 13, 1857?, near Murrayville, Ill., and passed away at his home near Waverly on April 10, 1925.

He was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Shay of Winchester on January 11, 1888. To this union twelve children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Mary Spencer, Sedalia, Mo.; Mrs. Elizabeth O'Neil, Tampa, Fla.,; Mrs. Lou Covey, Waverly; Simon, Peoria; William F., St. Joseph, Mo.; Edward F., Havana, Ill.; Oliver T. and George E. Connelly at home.

Mr. Connelly is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Still, Jacksonville, and one brother, Dan, of Peoria, and seven grandchildren, besides a number of more distant relatives.

Mr. Connelly was a farmer by occupation and lived a sincere, Christian life. He was a kind husband and father, and endeared himself to a wide friendship.

Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning, April 13 at St. Sebastian Catholic church in Waverly, Rev. Fr. Butler officiating. Interment was in St. Bartholomew's cemetery at Murrayville.

Those having care of the flowers were Mrs. Helen Still and Mrs. Rose Hoffman.

The bearers were Michael Shay of Springfield; Charles and Frank Dolan and James Connelly of Murrayville; P (or R?) W. Connelly and William Tracy of Jerseyville.

Sudden Death-Last Sunday Michael Conoley, living three miles northwest of this part of the county for many years, left his home on Sunday morning apparently in good health, and attended the services at the Catholic church. After the services, Mr. Conoley, accompanied by Mr. Fareley and his sister in-law, Mrs. Martin Conoley started for home on a sled. Mrs. Conoley having received a letter from some of their friends in Nebraska, in which were two photograps of their friends. She passed the letter and the pictures to Mr. Conoley to look at when he last spoke and said, "I cannot see." And immediately fell over forward upon his face off of the sled. Mr. Fareley at once lifted him up and put him upon the seat and took him back to town, being but a short distance, carried him into Mr. John Rowen's dwelling, when Dr. Vertrees was summoned immediately, but life was extinct before the physician could get there. The doctor upon examination pronounced it cerebral hemorrhage, some times called apoplexy. After his remains were put into a casket they were conveyed to his late residence.

Mr. Conoley was some 60 years of age and he leaves a wife and several children to mourn his sudden demise. His funeral will take place from the Catholic church, this village, Rev. Father O'Harra officiating, at 10 o'clock a m, Tuesday, 17th inst, after which his remains will be taken to Jacksonville for interment.
