WALTER HOWARD "BUD" SEYMOUR

Walter Howard "Bud" Seymour, 81, of Scottville, died Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2001, at Carlinville Area Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1919, in Modesto, the son of Galen Robin and Ada Louanna Fairburn Seymour.

He is survived by one sister, Mary (husband, Gerald) Ball, of Modesto, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Dowland, Virginia Jones, Betty Butler and Margurite Pearson.

Mr. Seymour retired from the Morgan County Highway Department. Prior to that he had done a variety of mechanical work. He had been Macoupin County (Scottville Township) Road Commissioner. He served in the United States Army during World War II, in Northern France and Central Europe.

Mr. Seymour enjoyed antique steam and gasoline engines and had attended the Old Settler's Days at Mount Pleasant, Iowa for 25 consecutive years. He was a member of Harts Prairie Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, with burial at Bull Cemetery in rural Franklin. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
