William R. Gray

William Robert Gray died at 4:00 o'clock Monday morning at his home southwest of Waverly, at the age of 70 years.

Mr. Gray was born January 16, 1876, the son of James and Jane Hart Gray.

He was married to Marian Dennis September 15, 1897, and to this union were born a daughter, Mrs. Lilian Carling of Modesto, and a son, Alvin Ernest, who died at the age of 20 years. Two brothers, Albert and Gelletta Gray, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Carling, of Modesto; two granddaughters, Lillian and Marian May Carling; a foster son, Newton Johnson, of Waverly; and a half brother, Roy Sample, of Litchfield; besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Hartland church Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Henry Loafman, pastor of the Modesto Baptist Church.

Music was furnished by the Hartland church choir, with Mrs. Arthur Rouland as accompanist.

The pall bearers were Alva Lowery, Harold Lowery, Eugene Wilson, William Dennis, Robert Johnson and Russell Rhodes.

The flowers were cared for by Barbara Dennis, Rosalee Peecher, Wilma Peecher, Gwendolyn Rhodes and Betty Wilson.

Burial was in Bull cemetery.
