Albert Gray

Albert Gray, a life long resident of Waverly community, died at his home eight miles southwest of Waverly, Thursday, November 10, at 9:30 p.m. He had been in ill health for some time, his death following a stroke.

Deceased was born March 9, 1878, near Waverly, the son of James and Jane Gray, being 60 years, 8 months and 1 day of age at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Maggie White, April 22, 1899.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Virgil and Ernest of Waverly; his mother; ten grandchildren; a brother, William R. Gray, of Waverly; a half brother, Roy Samples, and many other relatives. His father and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

He was converted in childhood days, and united with the Baptist church at No. 9, later placing his membership in the New Hope church. He was a loving husband and a kind father, and will be missed by the entire community.

Funeral services were held at the Hartland Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Nichols of Salisbury, and Rev. Roy March of Hettick.

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. E. H. Sheppard and Mrs. Holland Elliott of Waverly, and William and Guy Wheeler of Scottville, who sang "Old Rugged Cross", "Rock of Ages" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Mrs. Arthur Roland was the accompanist.

The pall bearers were Walter White, Raymond white, Orville White, Harold White, Elmer Stewart and William Stewart.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Raymond White, Mrs. Frank Farley, Mrs. Emma Crow, Mrs. Earl James, Mrs. William Stewart and Miss Pauline White.

Interment was made in the Bull Cemetery.
