Elmer Lindal Crawford

Elmer Lindal Crawford, formerly a resident of Waverly, was killed by the discharge of a rifle at 4 o'clock, Monday afternoon, August 6, with which he had been shooting at targets. The tragedy occurred at the home of his mother, Mrs. Gus Crawford, at Modesto.

A coroner's jury ruled Crawford a suicide, although he shot himself in front of his mother, wife and two of his children in the yard at his mother's home. The bullet entered his right temple.

Surviving are his mother; his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Debbie Sue; three sons Gwaine, Dwaine and Ruby; one brother, Stanley Crawford, of Modesto, and one sister, Mrs. Almeda Smith of Chatham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gus Crawford, on June 2nd of this year.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Stults Funeral Home in Palmyra, Rev. Robert Ball, officiating.

Burial was in the Bull cemetery, south of Franklin.
