BURLEIGH BRIDGES

Burleigh Bridges, 70, of rural Franklin, died Wednesday, October 24, 1979, at Passavant hospital in Jacksonville.

Mr. Bridges was born near Waverly May 8, 1909, son of John and Nancy Homes Bridges. He married Bertha Austif in 1931, and she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Killebrew, Waverly; two sons, Bruce, Waverly, and Steve, Modesto; two brothers, Monty Bridges, Florida, and Harold Akins, Missouri; 12 step-grandchildren; and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Bridges was a member of Hart's Prairie Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Neece Funeral Home in Franklin. Rev. Rick Williams officiated and two musical selections "Flight of the Dove" by Ferlin Husky and "There Will be Peace in the Valley" by Red Foley were played.

Pallbearers were John E. Killebrew, Timothy Bridges, Paul Bridges, Saul Sampson, Arthur Britenstine, and Terry Urley.

Burial was in Bull cemetery, south of Franklin.
