PARKER

M. V. Parker of this city died at the Soldiers' Home in Quincy Wednesday evening at the age of nearly 84 years.

He was born in Cashotten county, Ohio, June 30, 1832, and came to this state with his parents when a small child. He spent a good part of his life in Fulton county and later came to this county where he has since resided. He was twice married, his last wife having died two years ago. He is survived by a son and daughter and a niece, Mrs. R. Whitney, 324 Wolcott street, where he has made his home since the death of his wife. He enlisted in the union army in August 1862 and served thruout the war as a good soldier.

Capt. John E. Wright expected to go to Quincy today to bring back the remains and brief services will be held at the home of Mrs. Whitney after which the body will be taken to Murrayville were the funeral will be conducted in the M.E. church and interment will be in old Bethel cemetery.
