William Mellor who has been reported on the sick list from time to time during the past few months, died at his home in Dillman's addition at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, September 1st, aged about 78 years. Mr. Mellor had been in poor health for a long time being afflicted with apoplexy and Bright's disease. The body was taken to Murrayville Wednesday morning where funeral services were held at West Union church, three miles west of Murrayville, conducted by Rev. A. J. Johnson of this city, who accompanied the body to its final resting place in Bethel cemetery near Murrayville.

Mr. Mellor was a native of Lancaster, England, coming to Illinois in 1855. He came to White Hall four years ago from Scott county, locating in Dillman's addition where he resided until his death.

Mr. Mellor was a good citizen and though his acquaintance did not extend very far in this section of the county, he was well liked by all who knew him.

Surviving are his widow and seven children: George Mellor of Murrayville, John of Roodhouse, Robert and James of Manchester, Mary, wife of Andrew Landreth of Roodhouse; Mrs. Emma Becker of Chicago and Lizzie White of Jewell City, Kansas.
