Harold L. Stewart of rural Ashland rites set Tuesday

Ashland - Harold L. Stewart, a local resident, died Saturday afternoon March 31, at Passavant Hospital.

He was born on September 27, 1894 in Sinclair, a son of L.J. and Laura Parrot Stewart. He married Helen Swain on February 18, 1926 and she survives.

He is also survived by two daughters: Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Hartman, Ames, Iowa and Mrs. Steve (Marian) Webb, Creve Couer, Missouri; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorene Stewart, Jacksonville and two brothers; Chester of Sinclair and Russell of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

He was a member of the Berea Christian Church, where he served as an elder for many years; a secretary of the Berea Cemetery Association for many years; a member of the Berea School Board; a member of the Morgan County Farm Bureau; a member of the board of directors of the Prentice Farmers Elevator; and a well known farmer in the Berea community.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Berea Christian Church, with burial in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday and family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Berea Christian Church or to Passavant Hospital.
