Mrs. Cora Lindsey
Mrs. Cora Lindsey, a former resident of the Alexander community, died at 3:20 o'clock last Friday morning, February 27, 1948, at St. John's hospital, Springfield, where she had been a patient for twelve days. She had been making her home in Pleasant Plains.
Mrs. Lindsey was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Beavers, and was born in Morgan County August 13, 1884. Her marriage to William Lindsey took place in this county in 1903. Her husband preceded her in death on March 21, 1933.
She is survived by four sons, Lester, Ellis and Earl Lindsey of Pleasant Plains, and Orval Lindsey of Ashland; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Spradlin of Waverly, Mrs. Pauline Kennedy of Casey, and Mrs. Floreca Hickey of Jacksonville; a brother, Earl Beavers, of Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Henson, of Murrayville; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, one son and one brother.
She was a member of the Methodist church at Alexander.
Funeral services were held at the Berea Christian church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. W. J. Boston officiating.
Mrs. Harry Hartman was the soloist, with Mrs. Althea Black as accompanist.
The pall bearers were Harry Hartman, Walter Stapleton, Dan Flinn, Havey Doolin, Raymond Mahoney and Oscar Rieken.
Those caring for flowers were Mrs. Harry Hartman, Mrs. Walter Stapleton, Mrs. Dan Flinn, Mrs. Havey Doolin, Mrs. Raymond Mahoney and Mrs. Oscar Rieken.
Burial was in the Berea cemetery.
