GISH, MARY LONG

Mrs. Mary Gish passed away at her home in Literberry Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 o'clock a.m. Mrs. Gish had been in failing health for the past two years.

Mrs. Gish, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Long, was born in Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 2, 1841, having attained the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 20 days.

When a small child, she came with her parents to Illinois, making the trip in a covered wagon.

She was united in marriage to Frank Gish, April 30, 1864. Mr. Gish preceded her in death eight years ago.

To this union seven children were born, two dying infancy. Those surviving are: Mrs. Irena Brauer, Newton Gish, of Literberry; Mrs. Mevia Peterfish, William Gish, of Jacksonville; James Gish, of Arcadia. Seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. One brother, Fred Long, Upland, California.

In early life she confessed the faith and attended church as long as she was able.

"Grandma Gish" as she was known was a faithful mother and neighbor and will be greatly missed in her community.

Funeral services will be held from Literberry Bapist church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial in Arcadia Cemetery.
