Edward Culver, Sr., is dead at 86

Edward H. Culver, Sr., 86 years old of Athens, died at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15 at St. Johns Hospital.

He was born on September 15, 1884, the son of Edward and Anna M. Johnson Culver. He was a member of the Sweetwater Presbyterian Church where he served as elder for many years and a graduate of North Park College in Chicago. He was a retired farmer and resided most of his life in the Athens area.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, Edward, Jr. of Springfield; Allen of Athens; one brother, Dr. George Culver of Athens; one sister, Mrs. edward Adsit of Los Angeles; three granddaughters, Linda, Kathy and Mary Lou Culver, all of Springfield.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, at Mott and Henning Funeral Home with Rev. C. Ward Simpson officiating. Burial was in Indian Point Cemetery.
