GARMERS, HARRIET M. BRITTIN

ATHENS - Harriet M. Garmers, 87, of Athens died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Doctors Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Cantrall, the daughter of John H. and Mae Smock Brittin. She married Harold "Lefty" Garmers in 1932 in Athens; he died in 1967. A son, Johnny, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Garmers retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens and Athens Women's Club.

Survivors: two sons, Robert (wife, Leann) Garmers of Athens and Tom (wife, Sandy) Garmers of Sherman; two daughters, Donna (husband, Charles) Ferguson of Atmore, Ala., and Janet (husband, Fred) Schmulbach of Athens; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Clower of Channahon; three brothers, Charles Brittin of Garland, Texas, Dick Brittin of Springfield and Donald Brittin of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Mott and Henning Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Becker officiating. Burial: Joel Hall Cemetery, Athens.
