He Spent Most of his Life in This City and was a Well Known and Highly Respected Citizen

Fred Denton Hornback was born near GreenView, Nov 21, 1875 and passed away at his home in Greenview, May 13, 1939 at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 22 days.

In 1905 he was united in marriage to Miss Nell Kincaid who passed away in 1913. To this union one daughter, Bernita, was born.

He spent his entire life in and near Greenview. At an early age he united with Presbyterian church. He was a member of the Modern Woodsman of America.

For the past 47 years he has been a resident of Greenview and during the most of that time he was identified with the grocery business.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his daughter, Mrs Oscar Schoeneweiss, serveral cousins and a multitude of friends.

Fred had a wonderful talent for remembering names. He could call nearly everyone he had any dealings with by their first names and he made a friend of everyone of them. He had no enemies. He was always of cheerful disposition, kind and courteous to everyone and was well liked by all. He always possessed a witty sense of humor and most of all he was honest.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted Rev C J Beehler, Rev E C Parrish and Rev W R Floyd.

Internment was made in Elmwood Cemetery.

The pallbearers were; Guy Swiney, Clyde Riley, Elza Denton, Haskel Denton, Jay Denton and Homer Denton.

The singers were; Don Riley, Cleo Denton, Paul Palmquist, and Wm F Schoeneweise with Mrs Cleo Denton at the organ.

Those who took care of flowers were; Mrs Henry Deverman, Mrs Junior Diers, Miss Ethel Johnson, Mrs Joe Wagoner, Mrs Maris Cramer, Miss margie Stuwe, Mrs Orville Barnett, and Mrs Don Riley.
