Woldridge Cemetery

WOLDRIDGE CEMETERY

Menard County, Illinois

Cemetery is now a cultivated field.

This cemetery was located 7 miles west of Petersburg on a blacktop road 3/4 miles west of Tuttington Creek. The cemetery no longer exists.

From the best that we can understand from James Toal, the woods in the picture above is where Woldridge Cemetery was once located. It is rumored that the cemetery was bulldozed into a ravine in this area. We aren't sure exactly where the cemetery was located, we are still trying to find the exact location. When we do, we will explore it for left over stones or signs of exactly where the cemetery was once located. It is just by coincidence that there is a bulldozer in the picture we took today (12 Apr 2003).

GOOD NEWS!!!! Jeanie & Company have finally located the remains of several stones from this destroyed cemetery. For the full story of their multi-year search and ultimate success, click here.
