BEFORE CLEANUP

AFTER CLEANUP - November 16, 2002

Directions: Follow Newmansville Blacktop out of Petersburg and just about 0.2 miles past the Atterberry Blacktop, but still on Newmansville Blacktop. You will see a farm and a small woods on the right. The cemetery is located in the woods behind the barn. The farmer was kind enough to give us permission to go into the cemetery. We hope to do a new reading in the near future.

Directions & above pictures submitted by: Jeanie Lowe.

UPDATE: The county cemetery crew has cleaned up this cemetery and done a marvelous job. As Jeanie told me, it now looks like a cemetery again. During the cleanup, they uncovered several stones Duane didn't find during his trip before the cleanup. She indicated that they had set up the stones which were down and intend to remove the tree stumps left after cutting the trees and brush. Wonderful job!!!!!

The original transcription of this cemetery was completed in 1982 by Mr. James Toal. This cemetery was visited, re-read and photos taken during August 2002 by Duane Albert.   Duane found 6 or 7 stones which weren't previously on the reading - a miracle given the condition of this cemetery. Good job Duane!

As these transcriptions were done by humans, they are subject to errors. One should research the original documents to verify the correctness.
