Of Sheller Died
At Age 48

Arthur R. Ziarnek, 48, Scheller, died at 2 p.m. Oct. 29, 1987, as a result
of a farm accident near his home.
Mr. Ziarnek was born June 18, 1939, in Scheller, a son of Matthew and
Theresa (Stanloch) Ziarnek. On June 15, 1963, in Scheller, he married
Mary Ann Patterson, who survives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller
with the Rev. Hycanith Mazuchowski and the Rev. Jerome Hibner officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Barbara Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Fry and Frick Funeral Home in
Waltonville. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents; two sons, Michael
Ziarnek stationed in Hawaii with the Navy and Zachary Ziarnek at home; one
daughter, Stacie Ziarnek at home; six sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) McCowen
of Scheller, Mildred Przygoda of St. Louis, Mrs. Hugo (Maxine) Stein of
Okawville, Mrs. Terry (Marcella) Patyski of Valier, Mrs. Terry (Maggie) Dees
of Waltonville and Mrs. Luke (Mary Ann) Tomaszewski Jr. of Radom.
Mr. Ziarnek was a farmer and a coal miner. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve
from May 1962 to December 1967. He was a member of AMVETS Post No. 4 in Mt. Vernon,
American Legion at Sesser, St. Barbara Catholic Church at Scheller, Nights of
Columbus 4th Degree Du Quoin Assembly, Nights of Columbus No. 4476 of Du Bois and
United Mine Workers Association District No. 12. He served as tax assessor for
Bald Hill Township for eight years.
Mr. Ziarnek was preceded in death by one brother.
