Myrtle E. Norris
The Mt. Vernon Register News published the following on Friday,
December 17, 1965.
Mrs. Myrtle E. Norris, of Waltonville, died at 10:10
last night at the Lowry Nursing Home, where she had made her home for the
past two years. She was 83 years, seven months and 13 days of age. Funeral
services will be held Sunday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home in
Waltonville. The Rev. Argyl E. Houser will officiate and burial will be in
Knob Prairie Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home,
where friends may call at any time after 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Norris was
born April 23, 1882 near Waltonville, the eldest daughter of John D. and
Olive L. (Gilbert) Dodds. On December 15, 1901 she was married to Joseph H.
Norris, who preceded her in death August 19, 1925. Mrs. Norris was a member
of the Universalist church at Waltonville and the Royal Neighbors Lodge. She
is survived by three sons, William H. Norris of California, and D. Russell
Norris and Louis T. Norris of Waltonville; two daughters, Mrs. Mary O. Sword
of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Sadie L. Howard of Texico; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby
Hirons and Mrs. Anna Reid of Centralia, and Mrs. Alma Mannen and Mrs. Ruth
Thompson of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her husband, parents, oneson,Harry, three brothers,
Wilburn, Gilbert and Wayne, a sister, Minnie, and one grandchild."
