Mildred Ferne Norfleet


Mildred Ferne Norfleet, 93, of Walnut Hill died 3:35 a.m. June ,2005, at 
Odin Care Center in Odin. She was a homemaker and a cook at Rome Grade 
School in Dix.

Mrs. Norfleet was born Jan. 12, 1912, in Boyd to Callie and Myrtle 
(Chapman) Copple.  She married Virgil Crane Feb. , 1933; he preceded her in 
death in 1961.  On March 21, 1964, she married Kenneth Norfleet; he 
preceded her in death June 11, 2005.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Osborn Funeral Home 
in Dix.  Bruce Hough will officiate.  Burial will follow at Boyd 
Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Osborn Funeral Home 
in Dix.

Mrs. Norfleet is survived by a son, Charles Dean Crane and wife Jean of 
Herrin; two stepchildren, Harold Norfleet and wife Dora of Tuscola and 
Carol Ann Shaw and husband Jim of Gifford; two grandchildren, Marcia 
Furby and husband Jerry of O'Fallon and Steve Crane and wife Julie of 
Carterville; five great-grandchildren; , a great-great grandchild; four 
stepgrand-children; a step-great-grandchild;brothers Delbert Copple and 
wife Doris Ann of Centralia, Sam Copple of Rockford, Lester Copple and 
wife Irma of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Dean Copple of Sycamore; 
sisters Vera Foutch and husband Stanton of Dix, Mabel Lamb of Centralia; a 
sister-in-law, Mary Copple of Mt.Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers, 
Darrel Copple and Hubert Copple; and a sister, Tess Garren.
Mrs. Norfleet was a member of Little Grove Christian Church in Walnut 
Hill.

Memorials may be made to Little Grove Christian Church and will be 
received at the funeral home.
