Lois Marie Newell

Lois Marie Newell, 69, of Waltonville died 11:58 p.m. 
Aug. 20, 2003, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was a bus driver for the Waltonville School District. 

Mrs. Newell was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Waltonville to 
Kenneth Gilbert and Helen (Hester) Gilbert. She married 
Fred Newell April 7, 1955, in Mt. Vernon; he survives. 

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Newell 
Funeral Home in Waltonville. James McKinzie will officiate. 
Burial will follow in Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. 
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Newell Funeral 
Home in Waltonville. 

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Newell is survived by her sons 
Roger Newell and wife Abby of Waltonville, Wayne Newell and 
wife Catherine of Cordova, Tenn., Paul Newell and wife Katrina 
of Dyersburg, Tenn., Gary Newell and wife Vonda of Waltonville 
and Dennis Newell of Waltonville; daughters Darla Burton 
and husband Mark of Woodlawn and Donna VanWinkle and husband Bob of 
Waltonville; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis 
Rickerett of Lake Tomahawk, Wis.; brothers Bob Gilbert of Mt. Vernon, 
Jerry Gilbert and wife Shirley of Waltonville, Keith Gilbert and wife 
Beverley of Waltonville, Bill Gilbert of Arizona and David Gilbert of 
Texas; a brother-in-law, Buck Cornwell; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Gilbert. 

Mrs. Newell was a member of West Long Prairie Christian Church. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Gilbert; her mother, 
Helen Gilbert; a brother, Sidney Dale Gilbert; and sisters Ruth Gatena 
and Donna Burns. Memorials may be made to Knob Prairie Cemetery or West 
Long Prairie Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
