Evan Lee Newell

Evan Lee Newell, 31, Route 1, Waltonville, died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in 
Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a farmer.

Mr. Newell was born in Jefferson County July 7, 1950, the son of Mason and 
Kathyrn (Jeffries) Newell. On Feb. 15, 1975, he married Charlet Glenn of Mt. Vernon, 
and she survives.

Mr. Newell attended Waltonville High School, Rend Lake College and Southern Illinois 
University-Carbondale. He was a member of the board of directors of the Farm Bureau, 
Jefferson County 4-H and Jefferson County Extension Service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fry and Frick Funeral home 
in Waltonville with the Rev. Dale Burzynski officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Prairie 
Cemetery in Waltonville. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents, Mason and Kathyrn Newell of 
Waltonville; two sons, Jarrod and Joshua, both at home; and one brother, Philip Newell of 
Harlingen, Texas.

Mr. Newell was a Methodist and served in the U.S. Army and the Illinois National Guard.  

He was preceded in death by one brother, Alan, in 1972.
