Phillip NEWELL, 71, died
today at home of son: Taylorville, 
Nov. 23, 1926 

Phillip Newell, 71, died at 7:10 o’clock this morning at the 
home of his son, Claude Newell, 207 W. Franklin street with 
whom he had resided the lastyear. He had been in poor health 
for several years. Mr. Newell was born in Jefferson County, 
Illinois, March 4, 1855, the son of Asa and Margaret Newell. 
Practically his entire life was spent on a farm in Jefferson 
county. Four years ago, he retired from farming. He was married 
about 50 years ago in Mt. Vernon to Miss Lina Henry, who preceded 
him in death 35 years ago. He is survived by four children: Mrs.
Maggie Mitchell; Alton; Claude Newell, Taylorville; John D. Newell, 
Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Maude Place at Waltonville. He also leaves
15 granedchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 

The body will be shipped to Waltonville, Wednesday morning
where funeral services and burial will take place.
