Gearlene O. "Geri" Nance
Gearlene O. "Geri" Nance, 82, of Mt. Vernon died 2 p.m. Nov. 6, 2005,
at her daughter's residence in Mt. Vernon. She was a waitress at the
Rex restaurant.
Mrs. Nance was born April 23, 1923, in Missouri to Grover Cleveland and
Aline (McGehee) Kisner. She first married Lloyd Matthews in 1941 in St.
Louis, Mo.; he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Bill Nance
in 1973 in Jefferson County; he preceded her in death March 15, 2003.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in
Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Ron Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow at
Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Nance is survived by a son, Donald Matthews and wife Forestine of Mt.
Vernon; a daughter, Wilma A. Anderson and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon; 10
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Sinks of New
Lenox and Cleta Puckett and husband Arthur of Mt. Vernon; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a daughter, Sharon
Hayes; and a brother, Marvin Kisner. Mrs. Nance was a member of Mt. Vernon
Baptist Temple.
