Bob Ed Moss
Bob Ed Moss, 77, life-long resident of Mt. Vernon, died
1:48 p.m. September 3, 1994, at Good Samaritan Regional
Health Center.
Mr. Moss was president of the Hometown Furniture Store
in Mt. Vernon from 1945 to 1960 and later was a manufacturing
representative for several major furniture companies until his
retirement.
He was born September 24, 1916, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Eddie B.
and Anna Leota (Koons) Moss. He first married Nina Virginia
Pittman on October 14, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, and she died
September 1, 1978. He later married Laverne Craggs on
April 12, 1980, at Harrisburg, and she died on October 14, 1989.
Services were held 11 a.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home with the
Rev. Robert F. Freytag officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Hughey
Funeral Home.
Mr. Moss is survived by three daughters, Jean Ellen Koike and
husband Hideo of Silver Spring, Md., Mary Jane Ohms and husband
Edward of Washington, Il., and June Ann Adams and husband Larry
of Desloge, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Michelle Stapleton,
Angie Ohms, and Keith Adams.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a
lifetime member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819 and a member
of the Southern Illinois Senior Golf Association.
Mr. Moss was preceded in death by his parents and both of his
wives.
