Van Walter Morgan

Van Walter Morgan, 75, of Mt. Vernon died 10:37 a.m. 
March 15, 2002, at his home. 
He was retired from Vernois and was also a farmer. 

Mr. Morgan was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Jefferson County 
to Lewis O. and Opal (Beckham) Morgan. He married Neva 
Ferguson July 8, 1950; she died in 1972. 

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey 
Funeral Home. Mr. Gilbert Daniels will officiate. 
Burial will be at South Hickory Hill Cemetery. 
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 

Mr. Morgan is survived by special friend Sue Cook of Mt. Vernon; 
one son, Roger Morgan and wife Linda of Mt. Vernon; five 
grandchildren, Misty, Holly, Angie, Vanessa and Michael; 
three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Enoch Morgan and wife 
Dorothy, Jim Morgan and wife Betty and Terry Morgan, all of Mt. Vernon, 
Robert Morgan and wife Patsy of Ina and Charles Morgan and wife Debbie 
of Bonnie; five sisters, Lucy Webb, Martha Ellis, Linda Smith and 
husband Kenny, Virginia Wheller and husband Larry all of Mt. Vernon, 
Patsy Chelf of Bluford; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of South Hickory Hill Church. He was an Army 
veteran of World War II. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Van "Sunny"; 
one infant daughter; three brothers, Joseph, John and Randall Lee; 
and two sisters, Mabel Cates and Jane Melton. 

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the South Hickory Hill 
Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed 
to Hughey Funeral Home at P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Ill., 62864.
