Orval Lee Moore
Orval L. Moore, 61, of Ina died 3:55 a.m. Jan. 5, 1996, at
Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
Mr. Moore was a truck drive for the postal service until failing
health.
He was born June 23, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Orval B. and
Mildred (Winiger) Moore.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery
with the Rev. Ron Davis officiating. Those attending graveside services
are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Monday. Military flag presentation
services will be conducted by the chaplain of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore is survived by daughters Barbara Bonifacius of Mt. Vernon, Tracie Lowery
and husband David of Wayne City, Becky Windland and husband Terry of Belle Rive,
Patricia Morris and husband Frank of Mt. Vernon, Terry Hemmer and husband Owen of
Mt. Vernon, Kathy Kedzuch and husband Greg of Brookfield and Mary Jane Younger and
husband Dennis of Ina; sons Alan Lee Moore of Sonoma, Calif., David Higginson and wife
Letta of Ashley, John Moore and wife Stacy of Mt. Vernon, Jeff Moore and wife Bonnie of
Mt. Vernon and Virgil Higginson, Jr. of Mt. Vernon; brothers Harley E. Chambliss and
wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon and Jackie Chambliss of Mt. Vernon; sisters Maxine Powell of
Mt. Vernon, Alma Gulley and husband Charles of Marion, Yvonne Cates and husband Marvin
of Mt. Vernon and Sharrie Hibbs and husband Robert of Danville; and several nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Moore was a member of the U.S. Airforce from July 14, 1952 until July 13, 1962.
He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M., American Legion
Post 141 and was active in several veterans' groups until failing health.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and son Clyde Moore.

Mother's maiden name was Wininger, not Winiger, as reported; son's name
is Allen, not Alan; deceased son was Clyde Creighton [Moore] Dye, he was
adopted by an aunt and uncle, Clyde and Luella Dye, of Sonoma, Calif.
Sister's married name was Powless, not Powell. Orval was married twice;
to Alyce Grace Smith of Sonoma, Calif., and Shirley Ann (Coberly) Higginson
of Mt. Vernon. Orval also served in the U. S. Army as a recruiter for a few
years in late 1970s and early 1980s.
