Dies Suddenly;
Funeral Sunday
George W. Moore, a lifetime resident of Jefferson county
died suddenly at 7:00 o'clock this morning at his home,
1008 S. 2lst street. His age was 85 years, four months and four days.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at Myers
Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. T. Dougherty and burial will follow
in Hams Grove cemetery. The body will remain at the Chapel, where
friends may-call at any time up until the funeral hour.
Mr. Moore was a retired farmer and shoe worker. He was employed
at the International Shoe Co. here for a number of years, retiring
because of his advanced age three years ago.
Mr. Moore was born July 15, 1858 in Jefferson county, the son,
of James and Sarah (Addison) Moore. On January 7, 1886 he was
united in marriage with Samantha Goddard who survives.
He spent his early life on a farm in Dodds township. He and Mrs.
Moore celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last January.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Logan Street Baptist church.
Surviving, besides his widow, are one son, Frank Moore of
Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Arthur Hutchison of Mt. Vernon: four grandsons
and two great granddaughters.
