C. A. Moore Dies;
Descendant Of
Pioneer Family
Charles Albert Moore, whose ancestors were among the pioneers of
Jefferson county, is dead at the age of 84.
Mr. Moore, the father of Mrs. Virgil Pulley of Mt Vernon, died at 11:20 p. m.
Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital after a long illness. Ha was a retired
lumberman.
Moores Prairie township in southeastern Jefferson county is named for
Andrew Moore, the county's first settler. Mr. Moore's pioneer ancestor was
Andrew's brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday at the Pulley Funeral
Chapel with the Rev. Frank L. Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood
cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home where friends may call
after 4:00 p. m. Tuesday.
Mr. Moore was born Dec. 14, 1880, in Jefferson county, the son of William and
Josephine (Bruce) Moore.
On Mar. 6, 1908. in this city, he was married to Bertha Warren, who survives.
He is also survived by a son, William Komer Moore of Hammond, Ind.: two daughters.
Mrs. Cecil (Vera) Ford of Jacksonville. Ill., and Mrs. Virgil (Ruth) Pulley of
this city; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.' Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Logan Sttreet Baptist church.
