Adelaide Minor
Mrs. Adelaide Minor, whose remains were laid to rest in Hopewell Cemetery last Friday,
was born near Pleasant Mound, Bond County, Ill., February 19. 1843, and was near 62 years
of age at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Caborn, who being the oldest child of
Reuben and Evaline Caborn. Her mother is still living and resides at Greenville. Four sisters
survive her.
September 1, 1864, she was united in marriage to S. F. Minor, who survives her and lives north
of the city. The remainder of the immediate family are three children: Rev. Edward M. Minor of
this city and Burt and Fred Minor living north of the city in the Hopewell neighborhood.
Soon after the Universalist Church was organized in Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Minor united with it, and
to the Church of her choice was ever loyal. But her real kingdom was her home, in which she was
ever a faithful wife, and uniformly a kind and sacrificing mother.
