Nancy E. Miller
Emily, wife of the late John Miller, died at her home in the East Salem neighborhood,
Wednesday afternoon of what was supposed to be heart disease. Mrs. Miller was about
67 years of age and had been ill for a few days, but was apparently better the day she
died, and was about the house attending to the minor details of housekeeping. Becoming
tired she lay down to rest and her soon hearing her struggle apparently for breath,
rushed to her side and found her unconscious and dying, and she passed away without
regaining consciousness.
She was a Christian woman, ever ready to lend aid to those in distress. She has been a
member of the Salem Baptist Church for more than 40 years. The funeral was conducted at
Hopewell at 2 o’clock Thursday.
Three sons, Edgar, Elam, and Harmon Miller, all lining in this city and one daughter,
Mrs. J. T. Robinson of near Waltonville, survive her.
