Leslie Wayne Miller

Leslie Wayne Miller, 65, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 9:23, 
Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital 
in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Feb. 18, 1942, in Jefferson County, 
the son of Ulysses L. and Betty Pearl (Pigg) Miller. He worked at 
a rail car company in Chicago until he was disabled. 

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at West Salem Cemetery. 
Chaplain Ernie Collins and Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 will 
conduct services. Burial will follow. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. 
Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Those attending funeral 
services are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Mr. Miller is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Brown and husband Jeremy 
of Glendale, Ariz., and Tina Taylor of Benton; four brothers, Gene Miller 
and wife Bonnie of Mt. Vernon, Roger Miller and wife Barbara of Mt. Vernon, 
Jerry Miller and wife Sheila of Wayne City, and Bill Miller of Mt. Vernon; 
two sisters, Nancy Braddy and husband Albert of Mt. Vernon and Rena Cannon 
and husband Charles of Opelika, Ala; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Angela Dawn. 

Mr. Miller was Protestant by faith and a Vietnam veteran, having served with 
the U.S. Army Tank Corp. He was a lifetime member of the Bluford American Legion 
and served on their military color guard.
